Valentine's Day Deja Vu

I wasn't going to revisit Valentine's Day, but the outcome was a little too funny, after I'd just described our heatless, lightless 2007 Valentine's Day for you in My Favorite Valentine's Day.

Hubby had informed me he was making my dinner.  He came home with asparagus, steak, bread, and ingredients for twice-baked potatoes, informed me he'd need my input, but would do everything...and set to work.
The potatoes were baked, the bacon was crisped and joined with the other ingredients and stuffed into the potatoes, and the asparagus and steak were prepped and ready to cook when the blustery weather took our electricity away for the night.
Readjusting meant the asparagus steamed on the rangetop instead of in the microwave, and we warmed the potatoes through in my red cast iron pot on the stove, too.
We weren't able to have the music we had at that other Valentine's dinner, but what could have been more romantic than dining by the light of Prince CuddleBunny's Caterpillar lantern?  ;-)

  1. Too cute! Love this story! The meal looks fantastic, too! The beauty of a gas range, is that you always have a way to cook even when the power's out. Thanks for sharing.

  2. That's for sure...I've been VERY thankful for having that gas rangetop (too) many times this fall and winter! We've never had so many power outages. Lots of weirdly windy weather for us. This time with thunder and lightning, too. I felt very sorry for the lineman that were trying to restore power with that going on around them.
