(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

It's spring sports time again.  Practices and meets/matches at various times and in various places.  Track meets to shiver through...for hours, since junior high track meets can be some of the longest endurance trials ever conceived for spectators.  ;-)
All of that means we have food in our kitchen that's not typical for our household...packaged treats and snacks meant to entertain the bored princes and princesses (and their parents, too) between their siblings' track and field events, and things to temporarily satisfy empty stomachs between a vigorous practice and dinner.  I still try to make some healthy choices, mixing higher fiber and less sweet things in with fun and nutritionally outlandish choices like red licorice.

We also go through plenty of fruit, so I can feel good about that.
Getting home from meets at almost 8 PM with a crowd of famished athletes and fans means that dinners aren't always the homemade masterpieces they should be either. We've had more than our share of canned soup, frozen Yaki Soba and spring rolls, chicken pot pies, and even corn dogs recently.  I usually get tired of such fare (and the cost), so hit my stride, mid-season, and relearn how to plan meals ahead that can be ready when we all get home.  I'm not there yet this year.
