8 days to go for Princess Sassy and her Prince Steadfast, 27 for Princess Bossy and Prince Helium.
Wedding #1:
We are trying to schedule our week, but are awaiting a call from the pastor to set up his last private meeting with the couple. All else must flex around that important appointment. Meanwhile, things keep busy:
I have the lace, but need to sew it into strips of trim and apply it to the hems of the bridesmaid's dresses. The groom's pants need to be hemmed, and we need to check the length of the bride's gown with her new shoes to see if we need to shorten it, too.
I have been working on reception centerpieces. Each table will have an assorted selection of 3 picture frames...One with a photo of Princess Sassy's early years. One with a photo of Prince Steadfast's early years. One with a picture of the couple together. The princess and I picked and chose through frames at 3 different Goodwill stores, looking for variety and elegance...in black, silver, or gray. We have 48, but need about 20 more. I have the pictures chosen and arranged on Word documents, ready to print. I tried to print them on photo paper, but the printer didn't like it. I realized that for this purpose, printing on regular paper will work fine, and save time and money besides.
Bride-to-Be sash and tiara from one bride to the other |
Brunch shower fare: Crepes, quiche, and Pr Bossy's special cream puffs. Also a fresh fruit salad. |
Today I paid for the cake.
I am attempting to arrange for food trays for in between the wedding and the reception. Most guests are invited just to the reception for cake, but the 40 people attending/involved in the ceremony will need more than cake to make it from 3 PM until 10 PM. Costco has trays of turkey tortilla wraps, and of croissant sandwiches that, with a big Caesar salad and some fruit, should nicely fill the need...and the tummies.
Prince Stoic and Prince Inventive are seating guests, and have gotten the bride's OK to wear matching suspenders and bow ties. We finally had them chosen and ordered, but BuyYourTies.com called today to tell me the 'perfect' bow tie was no longer in stock. We started over, and plain silver will have to do.
In the quest to decrease spending and buy more practically (choosing things I'll be able to use again), the glittery lace dress and matching shoes went back to Macy's. I will wear the navy dress for the first wedding and have fabric to, hopefully, make a dress for the 2nd. (Pattern on sale for $1.99, fabric at 40% off, was $9.83...So $12 for a dress. Only good if it actually gets made.) Anyway, I still need a pair of shoes, and neither the bride or I have any idea what we're wearing to rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
Wedding #2:
Princess Bossy has scheduled an appointment with her reception venue on Sunday to go over table layout, linen requirements, and other necessities.
She is finalizing her Order of Service, in order to print her wedding programs, and contemplating things like who will fetch her food from the caterers, and how the smaller candles will get lit to be ready for the Unity Candle part of her ceremony.
Today she is dropping off their rings to be engraved, apparently having decided it's OK that they ordered her a 2.5 mm ring and a 2 mm ring showed up instead.
Homelife:
On Wednesday 3 of us have dental appointments, made 6 months ago when we were oblivious to how this summer would turn out! Today I'm taking Prince Go-for-It to watch many of his former teammates (the ones a year younger than he is) play in the Little League All-Star Tournament. Momming must go on, so I occasionally try to make sure the other kids get to continue some other-than-wedding activities, too...
Mode Weddings did a GREAT job with Sassy's and Steadfast's engagement pics. They're thrilled. |
