I say we are 'terminal DIYers,' and we try it all: Home/Kitchen Design & Building, Cooking, Baking, Sewing, Gardening, Woodworking, Homeschooling... But the seasons are changing, and in this one I plan to rediscover the artist in myself. I'm stepping out with some ideas and seeing where they take me...and us...at Our Home for Ten (RHome410)!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Good Medicine
It is uplifting for a grandma's melancholy heart to have such a cheerful, adorably cute-- and quite insistent! --helper...
(He pushed and pulled on my legs until I picked him up to let him in on the action.)
And so great to have my kitchen used in one of the ways it was intended, even though baking with grandchildren seemed so far away when it was designed!

How Quickly They Forget!
Of course, having the party in the new space above the garage spurred some progress, ahead of time, on yet to be finished tasks. (To this day, there are still plenty)
One evening, Hubby was working away on the kitchen area island, and, of course, the GrandPrince was interested in what he was doing, and in the tools and hardware. "Pop" (what Hubby prefers to be called, since that's what he called his own, beloved grandfather), always the shop teacher, saw an opportunity to share his passion for woodworking and construction with the little guy. He was apparently forgetting, perhaps, after the years since our kiddos' toddler years, that babies have a couple of instant reactions to getting their hands on new things...
...into the mouth, or see how they fly!
Princess Sassy caught the priceless exchange. She was only sorry she missed taking a photo of the driver bit sticking straight up out of the impaled vinyl floor. She was glad her sometimes finicky dad had been the cause of the first 'owie' in the new place. :-) Phew! Pressure's off. haha

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday
I have neglected to show you the project Princess Sassy (with Prince CuddleBunny's help) did the day after having a positive pregnancy test...when things are SO exciting, but it's SO LOOOOONG to wait. You may have noticed the extra decoration across the room in previous posts of Christmas, etc...
The paper-chain countdown to Baby:

And speaking of the princess and, lately and often, of ovens, the bun in her oven is growing! :-D

| I told her she might want a nicer background next time! |
You can see by the date on the photo (Jan 26), that she's nearing 17 weeks. That means the 20-week ultrasound is 3 weeks away... And Princess Sassy and Prince Steadfast are almost counting the minutes until she can see who's in there and what gender he or she is! Then naming and sewing can begin in earnest. :-)

Life Goes On and the Sun Comes Up Again
After crying off and on for sad reasons all weekend, and still not forgetting the continuing heartbreak of others, I have now been shedding a few tears of absolute joy.
I just found out I'll be getting a new brother-in-law! Not that he'll seem new, since he and my baby sis have been together for a long time, and he's shown strong love and devotion to her and her children... and the rest of the family, especially in helping care for our parents, for several years. We've already considered him a beloved part of the family. But it's so exciting to look forward to their wedding, and I rejoice with them in this new step!!!!
Plus, now that Prince Steadfast and Princess Sassy have had a chance to tell everyone who needed a more personal announcement, I can tell you that Hubby and I will be grandparents this summer! This new precious life is busy making Mama very tired and very nauseous. But we've been able to peek in on him or her through ultrasound, and were thrilled to see a beating heart, waving arms, and kicking legs. Princess Sassy thought the ultrasound image looks similar to a baby owl, and has called the baby "Little Hootie," for now, because of it.
Loads of excitement! We're rich with blessings!

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring
a reward from him. Like
arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. Psalm 127: 3-5
Loads of excitement! We're rich with blessings!
