It's a beautiful morning here today, and I would have posted a picture, but Hubby and the princes took my camera along to "Woodfest." Another Woods Technology teacher in a school district far north of us, who also went to college with Hubby, holds this high school woodcrafting show and competition every year. Hubby was a nervous wreck all week. The kids participating weren't working intently enough, staying after school long enough, nor getting projects finished enough in advance to suit his wishes. Anyone with kids (or maybe husbands) can probably empathize.
Yesterday I continued work on the contents of the entry closet. I should have taken a photo to share. Even though the kiddos told me all the photos were found and had been dealt with (inserted into pages and organized into albums), I seemed to find hundreds more mixed into the boxes. That's OK, they're the easy part. The more difficult task will be dealing with the non-pictures. Any advice on properly dealing with letters from Grandma, cards and projects made by the kids, programs, certificates, diplomas and graduation cap tassles, etc., etc. would be greatly appreciated! I want to be able to organize and store them, so that they're not just thrown haphazardly into boxes again...In a way we might be able to view and appreciate them occasionally.
Thank you, and have a great weekend!

The stuff you're talking about organizing is the kind of thing that people make scrapbooks for. But that takes a lot of time to do nicely. My suggestion would be to get some acid free folio boxes, of for the free version, some shoe boxes and plastic bags. Folio boxes fit on bookshelves better, though. Sort the various items by theme. Some might be by child, others by similarity. Make big, legible labels, and get everything organized. If you feel like doing something more substantial later, everything's ready to go, but you can do the initial sort and store in a day.

Yes, nice boxes per kid. What size will be a challenge, but everything will be better than it was before.

B&H has the kind of folio I was thinking of. I know I've seen similar sizes with pretty paper on the outside for a lot more reasonable a price than these leather ones. I'm just linking it to show the variety of sizes.
If you're looking for a crafts project for the kids, it's also pretty easy to make boxes and they can make them to fit the stuff instead of vice versa.
