TIRED...

I am NOT complaining.  I know that I am creating some of the extra work myself, and all of it is a blessing and joy to be able to do for my kids.  I have to say that I am not used to buying for myself, and like remodeling a kitchen, it's a rare opportunity, and one I want to get "right!"  I hope I'm not wearing out my welcome with these kinds of posts, but they're about my life right now.  I'm laughing at myself a bit, and it's a bit of a break to sit here and blather on about it.

2nd guessing at home:
One too tight and wrong colors.
One 'too young.'
Tuesday: Shopping...thought I got done with my own apparel and shoes for both weddings and rehearsals.
Comments:
"Too much" - "A little silly"
In truth, not practical for
any other occasions.

Wednesday:  Take back both dresses and coordinating shoes I got Tuesday and replace with the dress, in hindsight, I wish I'd gotten instead.

Thursday:  Take back the Wednesday dress, as both brides, a groom, and Hubby all vetoed the choice...  And also did a lot of little wedding item errands with Princess Sassy.  Prince CuddleBunny, tired of how often wedding tasks take me away from home, decided to come along.  I think he regretted that decision!

We got my rehearsal dress (for $13.50!), plus rehearsal and wedding shoes, trim for bridesmaid dresses, fulfilled some make-up and jewelry needs, found materials to create the bride's vision for her cake topper, ordered supper trays for feeding the wedding crowd before the reception, checked into flowers and purchased ribbon for bouquets and boutonnieres,
bought honeymoon supplies (food and beverages for the camping portion, in case your mind jumped elsewhere), pens for the guest book, and made sure we had food and plan for the next few nights' dinners, so we won't be scrambling at the last minute.  We also stopped at a soccer store, to distract the young prince, and try to convince him this wasn't his worst day ever. ;-)
Mother of the Bride Combo for
Wedding #1...Decided.
Still short on one dress for a wedding, but as I have one that will work for next week, I can put that off until the 18-day break in between events.
Friday:   Started out with the coffee maker running 90% of its hot contents all over the counter and down the front of the cabinet.  I feel good, though, that Thursday was truly a good accomplishment day, but realize we forgot to get the napkins, plates, and forks we needed from a store across the street from where we were most of the day... So have to go back.
Maybe tomorrow.
The bride is working, and I'm off to Goodwill for more picture frames.  Then I'll be printing pics and, hopefully, sewing the trim on the bridesmaid dresses, adjusting one to fit the 11-year-old princess, and finally getting the hem in the groom's pants that we pinned up much earlier this week.  -Seems like a month ago!
We're out of granola and bread, so I've got to set aside some time for momming, which could be a nice change.

Elaine, I can't even imagine doing all that you are doing. Hang in there...the best is yet to come, and it will all be worth it!

Think of it this way--if occasions come up suddenly, as they often do, you'll be all set. Bravo to you for sharing how the wrong dresses look. I can't disagree with your assessments. The classic dress you've chosen in the end can be dressed up or down and is much more useful than your standard mother of the bride dress! And if you look too young and sophisticated to be the bride's mother, well, you'll just have to wear a corsage or something so people can find you. :)

All those 'wrong' dresses went back, so it was just a shopping lesson. I think they would've been those things that you put on and always take back off, because they're 'just not right.' I thought the one with the one-sided ruffle and roses screamed "Mother of the Bride." But what else, I couldn't imagine. Can't think of any occasion I'd need to look like that, and no one around home even agreed with the 'Mother of the Bride' use.

I know now why stars sometimes wear weird things on the red carpet. They wear so many dresses that, once in awhile, they have to choose something different or fun.
