Wedding #1
15 days to go! WOW. Very exciting, and just a bit overwhelming.
The biggest thing we did recently is settle the bridesmaid-wear. The couple added to their wedding parties, so instead of 1 attendant each, will have 4 on each side. Princess Sassy will have all of her sisters and Prince Steadfast's sister. Prince Steadfast will have 3 friends and his brother. Princess Sassy's brothers will seat people and do various tasks...with young, Prince CuddleBunny proudly sporting his new suit and serving as ring bearer.
The men will all wear coordinates that match the gray suit and navy shirt that Prince Steadfast chose for himself. To save the young men from excessive expense, they've been asked to wear the same navy shirt ($14.95 at H&M), a gray vest, gray tie, and dark jeans. Pretty easy, and they should look pretty sharp, too.
But dressing 4 girls, aged 23 to 11, with one out of state until 2 days before the wedding, was a little tougher. We had 2 gray dresses on hand, and thought we'd find 1 more for the maid of honor, and get a selection for the absentee future sister-in-law from which to choose upon her arrival. Instead, during one, long, intense day of shopping, we started from scratch, and decided on one dress they all will wear. It's not closely fitted, so guessing at the sister-in-law's size became
less of an issue. The ruffled neckline and soft, draping gray and cream rayon fabric are feminine and attractive on all the ages and shapes.
Meant for teens, they are a little short, so adding lace trim around the bottom will add some dressy formality while also making them more modest, as the Princess wished. They can remove the lace after, to return the dress to the more casual, wear-anywhere look. Another great thing? Purchased at XXI (also dba in some malls as "Forever 21"), they were $15.50 each!
We have firmed up the design, servings needed, and delivery details with Corina Bakery, who is making their banana cake with Bavarian Cream filling and cream cheese frosting. We'll get a 3-tier cake, plus 8 half-sheet cakes to serve the expected 300 guests.
Saturday, they met with their pastor. They continued plans with him, and are happily reading a book he's recommended, The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by John

Today the couple is off getting their marriage license, and I have offered to find lace for the dress hems.
Tonight we have an appointment with Mode Weddings to view their engagement photos. The bride and groom will choose from many of those shots to make up their photo guest book, and also plan to use the photos for their reception slideshow. Fun!
Wedding #2
34 days, and counting!
Prince Helium was able to fly in last Wednesday for a week's visit in order to spend some time with his lonely bride, and help accomplish wedding tasks. Their rings also arrived, which means Prince Helium has to keep denying Princess Bossy's request that they start wearing them around....just as he denied her request to get married this week, as soon as their recently acquired marriage licenses will allow. At least he knows how eager and excited she really is to be his wife. ;-)
They also met with Stephanie, the baker for Corina Bakery. They were as positively impressed with the flavor and designs of her wedding cakes as Wedding #1's couple, so she will do their cake, also. Part will be orange cake with chocolate ganache filling, and the other part will be chocolate cake with orange ganache filling... all with cream cheese frosting, and the same bright orange abstract design originally planned.
